I wanted to introduce myself, my bakery, and my blog! This will be a fun way of sharing baking adventures with you!
Some quick facts about me, your baker: I’m a Texan transplanted to Oklahoma (we can still be friends! Really!). I have a slightly unhealthy obsession with Jane Austen (I’m a purist; please don’t assume I like Bridgerton. I do not.) and The Office (Café Disco! Booze Cruise! Fun Run! Dinner Party!). I love travel, Earl Gray tea, and old stuff. One of my most prized kitchen tools is a well-worn Martha Stewart glass measuring cup pictured below). Baking has been part of my life since I was a little girl. Most days are spent walking around the kitchen covered in flour. There's good reason to wear an apron. My favorite is this one (pictured below). If you know what and who it's quoting, we will be great friends.
The Delectable Crumb has a simple motto: Focused on Flavor. My philosophy is that food should taste good. Period. We often have our heads turned by the pretty face of fancy sweets that take hours and significant skill to decorate. But, do they make your tastebuds happy? Or do we just like looking at them? I set out to create treats that you will savor and enjoy, and, perhaps, crave fortnightly. I choose using high quality ingredients and slower methods to achieve delectable results. I enjoy working with businesses, schools, non-profits, and individuals to create treats for office treats, fund-raising activities, thank you gifts, and all kinds of celebrations. I promise my Cinnamon Rolls will make your Tuesday board meetings a really fun way to start the day!
There are two exciting things about making baked goods: the most obvious, of course, is eating the delicious finished product, and the less obvious is the process of creating the deliciousness. I’ll be documenting some of those processes here to share with you. Figuring out the right balance of ingredients, learning about unique foods, adjusting recipes to exclude gluten, experimenting with new products, becoming familiar with the unique quirks of my oven, and enjoying the process of building something for others to enjoy are all important pieces of The Delectable Crumb.
